Baby Girl with Soother

 Infant Care

With our primary caregiver model, caregivers are able to be attentive to each child’s cues and adapt their schedule to meet their eating, diapering, and sleeping needs.  The environment is set up to allow exploration and a variety of play experiences that are developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of all children.  We use daily records which are filled out by parents and staff to share information regarding the child’s diapering, sleeping, eating and any other important aspects of the day to ensure consistency of care.  Infants are taken outside every day to enjoy the outdoors while either exploring our covered outdoor area with toys or going on a neighborhood walk.

Toddlers to Age 5

While maintaining consistency throughout the daily routine, the staff provide children with open ended experiences to explore a variety of play opportunities and materials.  Providing them with a safe environment to explore helps facilitate autonomy and gives them control over themselves and choices they make.  Through art, circle time, free play, and outdoor adventures the children are provided with ample opportunities to work on fine motor, gross motor, communication, and problem solving skills.

Young Parent Program

Eligible young parents (young women who gave birth before their 20th birthday) are given priority child care spaces in our centre so they can return to school to complete their education. As a young parent in our program you will be required to participate in all aspects of our program which includes:
 Attendance at our weekly parent group
 T.A. Child Care (working with your child in the Centre)
 Creative Parent assignments
 Monthly Community Kitchens
 Being accountable – connecting with our Parent Support worker
These requirements are part of your commitment to HCC and Child Care Benefit (Child Care Subsidy). Young Parents can receive a Family Management credit towards their graduation for completing these requirements.
Please note: Young parents are expected to be at school while their child is atthe centre. There is zero tolerance for skipping out and abusing our program. If a student’s attendance or school progress becomes a problem, the parent support worker and or Coordinator will meet with you and your
teacher/counselor. If students have chronic problems with attendance and
accountability, they will be asked to leave the program.
We look forward to assisting you in your parenting journey and achieving your educational goals
